The Education Committee has the following overall aims:
- to generate effective professional dialogue and development among Freemen of the Company and with the wider
educational and training communities; and
- to offer an independent, professional and uniquely broad-based source of expertise and service.
The specific objectives which it has at present are:
- To devise a programme of professional activities, including meetings that will enable Freemen and interested
parties from outside the Company to engage in responding to significant educational issues of the day.
- To liaise with Livery Companies and other organisations on matters of education and training
- To oversee the development of the Company's website in furthering its educational activities and to be alert
to opportunities for the Company arising from new applications and facilities.
- To engage the interest of all Freemen by holding Open Meetings, not less than once a year, to gather ideas for
the future work of the sub-committee.
- To ensure that an adequate record of all meetings and seminars is maintained and circulated to members of the
Company and, where appropriate, to a wider audience.
- To explore, if appropriate, partnerships with other bodies to foster debate on educational topics, and to
promote and deliver any Company role in educational developments.
- To keep its programme of events under regular review in the context of the Company's strategic development.
- To report at least annually to the Court
The Committee is chaired by one of the team of Wardens. The Secretary, Lis Goodwin (lisgoodwin@btinternet.com), is pleased to
hear from any Freeman who would be interested in working with this Committee or who has any ideas for future events which the
Committee might organise.
